Polyurethane Spray Foam: Insulating walls to lower energy costs

R-Values chart

Wall Foam is a high R-value polyurethane insulation. The foam consists of two liquids that are mixed in the spray equipment. When sprayed, the foam expands and cures to a light-weight, semi-rigid insulation that seals cracks, seams and penetrations.

Wall Foam gives you the ultimate in air seal technology, meaning your energy dollars don't fly out of your pocket through gaps in your insulation.

Features & Benefits

  • Superior Air Seal Technology
  • Saves on Heating and Cooling Costs
  • Eliminates Entry Points for Pests
  • Prevents Mold Between the Walls
  • Designed for both Hot and Cool Climates

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the biggest advantages of the Wall Foam insulation system?

  • Low Energy Costs - Utility bills are typically 20-50% lower in homes insulated with Wall Foam.
  • A Healthy Home - Less air infiltration means less mold, pollen, and dust travel into your home.

Q: What are the differences between Wall Foam insulation and loose-fill insulation?

  • Wall Foam seals penetrations; hot or cold air can blow right through loose-fill insulation
  • Wall Foam does not sag, settle or shrink over time; the settling of loose-fill insulation reduces coverage area
  • Wall Foam reduces condensation within the walls; loose-fill insulation allows moisture to travel freely and  increases the likelyhood of mold, mildew and wood rot
  • Wall Foam does not provide nesting material or food for rodents and insects; loose-fill insulation is more hospitable to pests

Two Pound Wall Foam

The Two pound wall spray foams are HFC blown (zero-ozone depleting) liquid spray systems that cure to a low-density rigid polyurethane insulation material. Two pound wall foams do not contain CFC’s, HCFC’s or other gases harmful to the environment.

Homesulate™ foam insulation was developed by a leading chemical company in 1966 for use as a fire resistant thermal and acoustical insulation product to be utilized in commercial and residential structures.

In 1975, Homesulate™ foam products and their characteristics were expanded and refined with the help of a grant, provided by the United States Department of Energy, under the Federal Non-Nuclear Energy Research and Development Act of 1974 (Public Law #93-577).  Recognizing the inherent shortcomings of polyurethane and urea formaldehyde foams, the D.O.E. chose Homesulate™ foam as one of three products from a total of 7,000 to assist in further development.  After three years of intense research and testing, Homesulate™ wall foam greatly surpassed all of the D.O.E. expectations, and was made available for commerce.
